Oskarisms

tv24

My 4yo son has this amazing memory. Basically he remembers everything he hears and all that goes on around him and has since he was about two. This can often be rather cute, but it can also be a bit embarrassing… like the time he repeated a little tidbit of information to a playmate that he had overheard me say about that playmate’s parent. Yeah, that was embarrassing. But it can also be very cute as he often comes out with some hilarious Oskarisms as I like to call them. Some of the funnier ones in the last little bit read more…

A Letter to Angus

Angus

You are my second child. You were supposed to be my last. But life doesn’t always go as planned. The potential injustice of life is something you learned at a very young 10 months old. That is when I became pregnant with your little sister. Now you are a middle child and I worry about you. You are 22 months old and you test my patience to no end. So, I scooped him up and hauled him off to the Walk-In-Clinic at our Doctor’s office. We got in right away and he saw a clinic doctor who quickly looked him over and decided he was fine and just needed to let it “run its course”. I asked about his breathing and the Doctor didn’t have much to say about it. As I was leaving the exam room I turned to him and said read more…

You Made Your Bed… Now Lie in It

As a parent, I know I have to teach my boys good habits; my husband and I are responsible for the type of people they will become. We are their primary role models and therefore, have to set a good example for them. Consequently, if I want them to do something consistently, I have to do it myself. Here lies a problem. The slovenly truth is, In my 28 years of life, I have rarely made my bed. Perhaps I can blame this dirty little secret on my Mother. She never required me or my brother to make our beds. read more…
