Hooky, Pooh & Chinese Food

Takeout

My day started with a less than convincing case from my 4yo as to why he should stay home from school today because he wasn’t feeling well. The evidence was flimsy at best. He insisted his stomach was upset and he had a fever. Normally this would have been cause for concern, but a quick check of his temperature revealed he did not have a fever and the fact that he immediately asked when breakfast was, told me that his stomach was likely feeling fine. He’s intuitive and could easily read the skepticism all over my face so he attempted read more…

WTF Is That!?!?

restroom

In an attempt to motivate our 2yo to potty train, we recently started to put our 8mo on the potty. I can’t say who had the genius idea – I would like to say it was me because well let’s face it, I rock… but I can’t actually be sure so I have to be honest and say, there is a chance my hubby did it first. But then again, who freakin cares because it is working!! Like really working. I don’t know if she is just brilliant (probably) or if we have just been lucky for the last 4 read more…

Oskarisms

tv24

My 4yo son has this amazing memory. Basically he remembers everything he hears and all that goes on around him and has since he was about two. This can often be rather cute, but it can also be a bit embarrassing… like the time he repeated a little tidbit of information to a playmate that he had overheard me say about that playmate’s parent. Superheroes & Head Injuries

Batman

My 4yo has been crazy for random comic book characters lately. He has never seen Batman or Spider-Man or Star Wars (he actually calls it Star Words and continues to do so no matter how many times I tell him otherwise) but he still talks about them non stop. He goes to preschool so I suppose he plays with the other boys and they talk about these characters and based on these talks he has decided that they are very cool. I will admit, I indulged this new obsession a few weeks ago when I was at Old Navy and read more…

Rated M For Mature

Hockey is a big deal in our home. We can’t get through a day without someone playing some form of hockey. Road hockey, floor hockey, ice hockey, we even tried field hockey today up at the University (4yo totally vetoed that, he said it was too slow which it’s not but whatever). With this fierce hockey obsession it is no surprise that when the Vancouver Canucks play an early game it is on in our home. Like tonight, the Canucks are playing Anaheim and the game started at 5pm so, of course, we are watching. Just a few minutes ago, read more…
