All You Want for Christmas

Being as I am one day from my due date with Baby #3, I thought I would focus on what is making me happy right now… nice stuff!! Yup, I am shallow and I can admit it and nice stuff makes me feel good so I thought I would share some of my fav things with all of you.

Don’t forget… Xmas is just around the corner, so if your man needs some pointers like my man does, then tell him to read this post and pick you up a thing or two for under the Christmas Tree. You know you deserve it… all of it!

#1) LaVanila Laboratories – The Healthy Deodorant

Did you know that regular deodorant & antiperspirant is full of stuff that is really bad for you?? I have known for a long time but I still used it because I sweat (like seriously sweat) & I couldn’t be going around smelling or having pit stains… no way. But then about a year ago I heard about this stuff and when a Sephora finally opened in my city (thank gawd!) I bought some and I LOVE IT!! I tell everyone about it and all my friends who have tried it, rave about it just like I do. It leaves you smelling amazing and gives you the softest armpits ever. It is a must have as it has zero aluminum or parabens and it still leaves you dry. Go get it!

#2) Nest Hudson Diaper Bag

Yes it is a bit pricey but ladies, let’s face it, a nice black leather bag can be used for years to come and this is more than a nice leather bag it is a GORGEOUS leather bag. This is one of the presents that my husband bought me for my 30th birthday (I picked it out he’s not that good) and after only having it for a few weeks, I can tell you it is AMAZING. I get sooooo many compliments on it and I love it so much I even take it with me when I go out sans kids. Plus, it is a big bag with lots of space which is great for cloth diaper users like me.

#3) Bliss Blood Orange & White Pepper Hand Cream

This paraben free hand cream by Bliss is the best hand cream and I love it. The Blood Orange & White Pepper scent is my favourite but all the scents are amazing. I have very sensitive skin that gets very dried out in the winter and I struggle to find a good hand cream that is not full of crap that actually works. I always have a tube of this in my purse and it makes me smile every time I use it because it smells so damn good and it makes my hands so very soft. I bought mine at Sephora (once again thank gawd we finally got one) and a little goes a long way so the extra cost over the drug store brand (2 purse sized tubes for $12) is worth it.

#4) Special Teas Creamy Earl Grey Loose Tea

I am not a coffee drinker and I don’t have the need for a caffeine fix in the morning, but I do love to have a good cup of Earl Grey tea. I have had Earl Grey teas from all around the world and my favourite by far is Creamy Earl Grey from a local shop here in Victoria called Special Teas. It is a traditional Earl Grey with a touch of Vanilla and it always makes me feel warm & cozy. Check out the Special teas website as they ship everywhere and loose tea is very light so shipping is cheap. Think Stocking Stuffer!!

#5) Bon Iver  – For Emma, Forever Ago (CD)

I love this CD as it is perfect for any occasion. I play it to relax, for dinner parties, in the car and I even have a few songs on my run play-list on my iPod. It is a great CD from a fab Indie artist. It always makes me very very happy and there is not one bad song on the entire album.

#6) Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner

I have been using this Shampoo & Conditioner for a few months now and I really adore it. It leaves my hair feeling really soft and it is very gentle on my colour (yes I dye my hair). I love that the bottle is so tall and thin so it barely take up any space on the side of my tub. Also, Aveeno has conveniently made the top of the Shampoo and Conditioner bottle different colours so you never get the 2 mixed up. It lasts a very long time as you need very little and it can be picked up for cheap at your local drug store.

#7) Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

This is an amazing book. Like make me so damn jealous that I didn’t write it good book. I have read many of Kingsolver’s books and this is by far the best. Theecond s chapter was so beautiful I had to go back and read it again and again; I will never be able to see or smell Honeysuckle without thinking of it. Curl up with it this winter… I promise you won’t be disappointed.

#8) Burt’s Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream

I love this natural cleansing cream and use it every single day. I have very sensitive skin so I like to avoid foaming cleansers but I also want to feel like my face is really getting clean and this cream cleanser seriously delivers on that. It is gentle yet it has a very slight tingling sensation but it never irritates my eyes (I even use it to remove my mascara). Also, it works great on my combination skin and my Husband’s oily skin. At only $13 a bottle from the local drug store, and seeing that it works as an all-round cleanser for both me and Hubby and is 99% natural, it is what I call serious bang for the buck!

#9) iPhone 4 & my MacBook

What can I say??? If you are still using a PC you are insane. I have been an Apple user for 4 years now and I have never had a virus… what more do you want? I love my MacBook and I LOVE my new iPhone 4 which was my other 30th birthday gift (BTW I am not actually 30 for another 15 days but I am enjoying my gifts early). Yes Apple products cost a bit more but in my opinion they are 100% worth it!

#10) The Hunger Games Trilogy

Forget Twilight! If you want to read a series that you will not be able to put down and that does not include the cheesiness and poor writing of Stephanie Meyer, then get this trilogy!! I love the main characters and cannot wait for these to be made into  movies. No it won’t lessen my love for Robert Pattinson, but it will forever erase Edward Cullen from my mind and I think that is likely a good thing. Read it then we can chat about the Katniss, Peeta and Gale dynamic and gossip about who should be cast in the upcoming films. This is a brain Candy read that you can’t miss.

Ok now my ass hurts and I need to drag myself and my massive belly off the couch to do dishes. I hope this little baby makes her appearance very soon cause if I get any more pregnant no “stuff” no matter how special will be able to keep me happy. Happy shopping and let me know if you love any of this stuff like I do. It was a good day for Pretty Things Pimpage for sures!!

Thanks for the tip on the deodorant, I always assumed the healthy stuff would not keep me dry

It usually always keeps me dry. There have been a few times when i have serious pregnancy hot flashes that I was a little sweaty but that even happens with Antiperspirant so I think it is all the same.

I’m going to do this in bullet point form:

-There’s a Sephora in Victoria now?! Awesome! I think I might actually try that deodorant.

-Every woman deserves at least one nice, leather handbag. Considering you’ll have given birth 3 times, you REALLY deserve one.

-I will also probably try that Burt’s Bees cleanser. I have sensitive combination skin & have been looking for something natural to try.

-Team Mac all the way. I love my MacBook & iPhone too. So worth the money.
